A lead ingot was one of several metal items aboard ship. The others include what appears to be a small copper incense shovel, iron and copper nails and lead fishing weights. In something of a surprise, iron nails—rather than copper nails, which would have been expected for the time in which the ship sailed—held the frames to the hull. The ingot may have been cargo or it may have served as raw material for onboard use.
