Inch by inch, Doreen emerges from her unexpected grave. Excavation began with the lower limbs—being exposed here by, from left, David Brittin, Ranbir Sidhu and Sarah Kowalski—because it was the foot bones that Sidhu first spotted beneath a pile of limestone rubble that he was clearing. The limestone rubble turned out to be the remains of a wall that had fallen on Doreen; the restored wall can be seen in the background.
