Excavation of the fortress, seen here from the east with the main entrance at the upper right, has revealed a 16- by 10-foot central hall, and evidence of two destructions, one in the tenth century B.C. and another of the rebuilt fort in the ninth century B.C. The individual in this photograph stands in a doorway to a room on the south side of the hall.
