An artist’s reconstruction of the second (ninth-century B.C.) fortress shows the possible use of the different levels that collapsed in flames during its destruction. Iron arrowheads found near the main entrance indicate that the second fort may have been destroyed by forces of the Assyrian king Shalmaneser III, who invaded the lower Galilee in 841 B.C.
