Fishermen throw a cast net from a boat. The circular net can also be tossed from shallow water (see drawing). Lead sinkers plunge the net to the bottom of the sea. Fishermen then dive down after the net and either remove the trapped fish individually through the mesh or carefully pull together the edges of the net and carry up the net to the surface with the catch inside.
