The trammel net is the only net used in ancient times that still today is common on the Sea of Galilee. The net has three walls, with mesh of increasing density, as in the drawing. Fish pass easily through the outer walls, with their looser netting, only to find themselves caught in the inner, tightly woven wall. Attempts to push through or retreat entangle them further.
