Words almost identical to those on the Kuntillet ‘Ajrud pithoi—“blessed … by Yahweh … and by his asherah”—make up this inscription carved into the wall of an Iron Age tomb at Khirbet el-Kom, near Hebron. The saying appears to have been a popular one in ancient times. Below the words, a blocky hand has been cut into the stone.
