At the bottom of Warren’s Shaft, the sinkhole that formed the shaft continues below the level of Hezekiah’s tunnel for 9 feet before ending in a typical funnel-like shape. When the author realized that Warren’s Shaft was a sinkhole, he advised the City of David dig director, archaeologist Yigal Shiloh, to search for its continuation. Archaeologist Don Glick stands in the sinkhole continuation that they consequently uncovered.
