Photo from the southwestern end of Hezekiah’s tunnel, where the ceiling rises to it highest point, about 16 feet above the floor. The high, unhewn ceilings in the tunnel can be explained as remnants of a preexisting erosion channel, left by the tunnelers in its natural state.
