The Siloam pool continues to serve the public after 2,700 years. Although its location has changed slightly since ancient times, the pool still functions as the southwestern outlet of Hezekiah’s tunnel, collecting the water that flows through the tunnel from Gihon Spring. From the Siloam Pool, the water flows out to irrigate adjacent gardens. According to the Bible, King Hezekiah “made the pool [of Siloam]” at the same time as he ordered the construction of the tunnel (2 Kings 20:20).
