Perforated hippopotamus ivory. Dating to the Chalcolithic period (4500–3300 B.C.), this ivory was probably used as a ceremonial standard. Found in the Cave of Treasure, in the Judean Desert by the Dead Sea, it is one of the Chalcolithic objects on display at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City.
