Khirbet ed-Deir also contained a cave tomb with a small chapel at its entrance. A mosaic with a scallop design at top and elaborate geometric patterns decorates the floor of the chapel. An inscription inside a tabula ansata (a rectangle flanked by inward-pointing triangles) asks visitors to “intercede for peace for this place and for our souls.”
