Garo Nalbandian

The fingers of the Angel Gabriel, according to Moslem tradition, have left their imprint on the western face of es-Sakhra. Tradition has it that the Rock wanted to follow Mohammed on his ascent to heaven and had to be restrained by the angel. The north-south line of this western rock scarp is 3.5 degrees east, a very significant orientation because it parallels the western and eastern walls of the square Temple Mount.
