Picture this around your neck. Excavated from a Predynastic (c. 3900–3650 B.C.) burial in Egypt, this small amulet curves gracefully upward on each end into the shape of a bird. Made of silt-stone inlaid with ostrich eggshell beads, the necklace is a miniature version of an ancient palette used when grinding pigments to make cosmetics. On view in Indianapolis from July 13th to September 29th.
