Dodgers shortstop Jennifer Rae Weitz inspects the remains of a baseball hit by Asa Eger. Well, in fact, Ms. Weitz attends Drew University, Mr. Eger attends Rutgers University, the remains are those of a Byzantine amphora—and the site is Tel Tanninim, on the Mediterranean coast in northern Israel. Excavations have unearthed a large Byzantine castellum, or water reservoir, with an attached fish tank. The volunteers are standing under the buttress of a ramp that once ran from the bottom to the top of the fish tank.
