The remains of a Mesopotamian-style tub-shaped coffin, discovered inside the city wall, provides further evidence of Babylonian life at Mizpah. While the Judeans traditionally interred their deceased outside the city, Babylonians buried corpses beneath their dwellings. This coffin may have been built for a Babylonian residing at Mizpah or by a Judean copying eastern practices.
