By the ninth century B.C.E., the use of rosettes to signify royalty had spread east from the Hittite empire in Anatolia to Syria. Rosettes also mark the jewelry, garments and throne of the princess or queen depicted on the Syrian funeral stela discovered at the neo-Hittite city Zincirli, located on the route connecting Anatolia and Syria.
