A small statue of Pan playing his panpipe was erected in the man-made cave directly east (right in the photo) of the grotto. Diminutive statues of Echo, Hermes and other Greek deities stood in niches carved into the rock wall surrounding the caves. “For Pan and the nymphs” begins the inscription beneath one niche. Another reads “The priest Victor, son of Lysimachos, dedicated this goddess to the god Pan, lover of Echo.”
