Warren’s System Gets the Shaft: This newly drawn plan of Jerusalem’s waterworks makes it clear that Warren’s Shaft was not the endpoint of the Middle Bronze Age water system. Instead, the long arm of the horizontal tunnel clearly bypasses the shaft entrance (which was 5 feet below the tunnel at this point), continues through a cave and makes a sharp turn toward the fortified pool, where water from the Gihon Spring collected.
