Model Home. The Deir el-Medina workers lived in state-provided row houses, arranged along the town’s central street. The homes were similar in plan, with three rooms lined up one behind the other. The photo looks straight through one house—from the front room, or antechamber, through the largest, central room, which was used for meals, to the back bedroom.
