Pick a theory. Did tripartite pillared buildings serve as storehouses? Stables for horses? Scholars have been able to agree only that these buildings were public buildings, not private homes. In the accompanying article, author Moshe Kochavi proposes that they were ancient shopping malls. This computerized plan shows three buildings from the west: from left to right, the tripartite storehouse with solid walls, the tripartite pillared building and the granary with its six square rooms.
