The reconstruction drawing, which shows the buildings from the west, depicts only the tripartite pillared building and the granary. The pillars of this tripartite building supported a raised roof over the building’s central aisle. Clerestory windows allowed light and air to pour into this central building, where much of the trading at this ancient mall would have taken place. The granary, however, had solid walls that kept out light and air in order to protect the grain stored here.
