Thirty-four years and counting…:Lush greenery surrounds the site of Tel Dan, located in Israel’s far north near the source of the Jordan river and the foothills of Mount Hermon. Biran began excavations at the site in 1966—and has not stopped since. The dig is the longest-running excavation in Israel and has yielded an impressive array of Israelite cultic sites and ritual artifacts.
