Leen Ritmeyer

Jacobson’s theory. Like Leen Ritmeyer, David Jacobson believes that the Jerusalem Temple was located where the Dome of the Rock stands today, though he places it further west than Ritmeyer. Jacobson places the Temple’s altar on the spot now occupied by the Dome of the Chain, a view not shared by Ritmeyer. More importantly, Ritmeyer faults Jacobson for the way he arrived at his conclusion, particularly Jacobson’s theorized position for the northern wall of the Temple Mount. Ritmeyer believes the northern wall of Herod’s Temple Mount coincides with the present-day northern wall of Islamic Temple Mount (solid line at top of plan).
