We’re in this together. The Greek inscription on this second-century C.E. lead weight from Sepphoris gives the names of two of the city’s market inspectors. One, Simon, is Semitic, while the other, Justus, is Latin. Though the names of many agoranomoi (market inspectors) in Roman Palestine have been identified, this is the first inscription that mentions a Jew in connection with the office.
