Onward and downward. Excavation squares mark the progress of Reich and Shukron, who continue to uncover sections of the wall they first brought to light in 1999. Working south from the original point of discovery, excavators have so far exposed a roughly 100-foot stretch of this wall, which Hezekiah probably built in preparation for an attack by Assyria’s King Sennacherib (2 Chronicles 32:5).
