Fragments of a sixth-century mosaic floor were found when the 11th-century floor was removed to be reset on a new base. The colorful, elaborate central design shows open flower petals and small palmettes arranged in straight lines, forming geometrical patterns. A decorative double guilloche band serves as a border. The design is typical of mosaic floors of fifth and sixth century Palestinian churches and synagogues.
