Dreams of the desert. A comparison of Turner’s Biblical landscape, Pyramids of Ghizah, with the original sketch of the scene by Charles Barry (see drawing), shows that Turner, who had never traveled to the Holy Land and relied on the artwork of others who had, felt no obligation to be faithful to the renditions he used.
