Aphek flourished in the Roman and Byzantine periods (first–fourth centuries A.D.). Herod the Great rebuilt the site and renamed it Antipatris, after his father Antipater. Among the structures uncovered by Kochavi and his team from this time is an Odeon (a small theater).
