Shown here is the inscription on the James bone box before it left Israel for Toronto. Written in Aramaic, the common language of Palestine in the time of Jesus, the inscription reads, “Ya’akov bar Yosef akhui diYeshua” (Jacob [often rendered as James in English], son of Joseph, brother of Jesus).
