The reliefs at Ramesses III’s mortuary temple at Medinet Habu show the Egyptians repulsing the Sea Peoples—both on land and at sea (as shown in this segment of the relief). According to Egyptian texts, Ramesses placed his enemies in garrisons, who eventually freed themselves and proceeded to occupy the Levantine coast.
