No termites here. Co-author Overman (left) and dig volunteer Gary “Termite” Lindstrom flank a massive Corinthian pilaster recovered at Omrit. (A pilaster is a column that is not free standing but has been built into a wall.) Lindstrom is something of a legend among excavators; the owner of a pest control company in Oakland, California, he has spent 30 summers as a volunteer at a number of excavations.
