Ehud Netzer

A second Banias candidate. Archaeologist Ehud Netzer also believes Herod’s temple to Augustus was at Banias—but at a different location than the one proposed by most other archaeologists. Netzer believes an opus reticulatum building—marked by a cross-hatch pattern—about 100 yards west of the Cave of Pan was the temple of Augustus.
