Hezekiah’s Tunnel meanders for 1,750 feet underneath the City of David, south of Jerusalem’s Temple Mount. The tunnel has long been attributed to Hezekiah and is credited with helping him withstand an Assyrian siege. Some scholars, however, claimed that the tunnel dated to a much later time. Carbon-14 tests of the plaster inside the tunnel have recently dated the tunnel to Hezekiah’s time.
