An elegant doorway frames the entrance to the natural cave in which Lot and his daughters were believed to have lived and which served as the focus of the basilica church. Crosses and rosettes decorated the doorway. A four-line inscription, set inside a tabula insata frame, names the bishop and the abbot and identifies the year as 605 A.D.
