ON THE HUNT. The most remarkable cycle of friezes in Tomb I begins with this hunting scene. At the center is a man on horseback throwing a spear at a leopard. Beside him is his hunting dog, and behind him an attendant blows a trumpet. The leopard is already bleeding from an arrow wound and faces attack from a second dog at its rear. Above the feline is the inscription pardalos, a variant of the Greek word for leopard.
