The ostraca includes the place name Maqqedah, which is the most common place name mentioned by the Aramaic ostraca that have emerged recently on the antiquities market. The town is thought to be modern Khirbet el-Kôm, near Hebron in the West Bank, a site known to have been heavily looted since 1967.
