Selz Foundation/Hazor Excavations

This Hazor six-chambered gate is credited by most archaeologists to King Solomon, who is described by 1 Kings 9:15 as having fortified this city. If that view is correct, the gate stands as proof of the Biblical depiction of Solomon’s kingdom as a significant entity with wealth and power. Israel Finkelstein of Tel Aviv University, however, has challenged the Biblical narrative by questioning the dating of this gate.
