An aerial view of Horvat ‘Aqav, on the opposite side of the Ramat Hanadiv ridge from the large fortified manor house at Horvat ‘Eleq, shows a much smaller complex. The authors believe that the two sites, connected by an ancient road, were part of the same estate. One of ‘Aqav’s distinguishing features is a Jewish ritual bath (miqveh). In contrast, Horvat ‘Eleq has no formal miqveh, although the natural spring located on the site would have met the same religious requirements.
