Pharaoh Ramesses II (1290–1224 B.C.E.) holds a scepter on this limestone scarab found at Hebron in the 1966 dig. To the right of the figure is the ruler’s hieroglyphic prenomen (a pharaoh’s fourth name), User Ma’at Ra Setep N Ra. Ramesses dominated Canaan during his long rule and is widely thought to have been the pharaoh of the Exodus.
