In addition to the two inscriptions shown earlier, Temple Complex 650 provided the excavators with several important finds.

The photo shows a third inscribed potsherd recovered from the temple. Reading “for Ba’al and for Padi,” the inscription reflects the Assyrian phrase “for god and king.” Ba’al appears frequently in the Bible as the arch-enemy of the God of Israel, and Padi was a king of Ekron who is mentioned in royal Assyrian annals.
