Masseboth line the walls of this sacred area. Some are accompanied by smaller stones, some by flat offering tables. Bones, figurines and offering tables were also found in conjunction with the standing stones. More than 30 masseboth have been recovered in this sanctuary at Hazor. Some scholars have attempted to analyze the large quantity by grouping them, focusing on the numbers two, five and seven, which are especially popular in Near Eastern mythology.
