LETTER FROM JERUSALEM’S KING. The Amarna letters, an archive of cuneiform tablets from Egypt, includes correspondence from the 14th-century B.C.E. king of Jerusalem, Abdi-Heba, to the Egyptian pharaoh. This communication between the rulers of Egypt and Jerusalem implies that Jerusalem was an important city at that time, even though archaeologists haven’t found evidence of this occupation.
