Blocking the entrance when the dig was in recess was of prime importance. The excavators tried a heavy metal door with iron bars drilled 18 inches into the rock face of the mountain, but Bedouin managed to wrench it free, probably with the help of a camel. A huge stone now keeps out visitors who might think buried treasure lies inside.
