Blessings abounding, the inscription on one of two jars from Kuntillet Ajrud in the Sinai is translated, “I bless you (plural) to YHWH of Samaria and his Asherah/‘asherah” (along the top of the drawing). Dever’s book suggests that one of the figures on this jar may actually be God’s consort, Asherah (seated in the background). But our reviewer notes that the drawing was applied to the jar sometime after the elegant inscription was made and has nothing to do with the inscription.
