This photo shows a jar handle impressed with the word l’melekh (“[belonging] to the king”) and a two-winged sun disk. More than 2,000 l’melekh handles have been uncovered in excavations in Israel, all dating to the reign of Hezekiah. The symbols on Hezekiah’s seal and on the jar handles are Egyptian and show the cultural and political influence Egypt exerted over Judah.
