THE TREE OF LIFE takes on a different meaning in ancient goddess iconography. The symbols of the life-giving tree, the pubic triangle and the nurturing goddess were so intimately connected in the ancient world that they became virtually interchangeable. All three symbols are represented on this pendant of the Canaanite goddess ’Athirat/’Elat.
