This style of beekeeping is known from Egyptian pictorial depictions, such as this painting from the tomb of Pabasa. a Weizmann institute of Science study has confirmed that molecular traces of beeswax are embedded in the Tel Rehov apiary. This is the only apiary ever found in an archaeological excavation in the near east.
