A border town between the kingdoms of Philistia and Judah, Qeiyafa was a small but important site on the road to Jerusalem. The plan shows the Iron Age casemate wall (the dashed line), as well as Area B (at the bottom), where excavators uncovered a gatehouse and another important building in which an ostracon was discovered.
