FROM MITHRAS TO MAGI. The cloak and cap of the Mithras statue were recreated in a Christian context, as shown in this sixth-century C.E. mosaic detail of the three Magi bringing their gifts to Mary and the Christ child. The mosaic is located in the Basilica of San Apollinare Nuovo in Ravenna, Italy.
